You can find out more about the risk factors for different gynaecological cancers by going to Understanding gynaecological cancers, or by going to Cancer information resources, and following the links to relevant organizations.London Gynae Cancer Care offers a number of cancer prevention services, including Well woman checks and HPV vaccination.
Well woman checks
London Gynae Cancer Care offers well woman checks that are specifically tailored to meet your individual needs. These include a consultation with a healthcare professional, during which we will sensitively discuss your lifestyle, medical history, family history and any concerns you might have regarding your risk of cancer. If appropriate, you may also be offered various tests such as a cervical smear, blood tests, or referred for an ultrasound scan of your pelvis.Based on the results of these checks, we can offer specific advice about your lifestyle and your risk of different gynaecological cancers, and appropriate interventions (e.g. HPV vaccination).

HPV vaccination
HPV infection is responsible for almost all cases of cervical cancer, and more than a third of vulval cancers, in the UK. Immunisation with HPV vaccine (Cervarex®) is highly effective in preventing infection, and is currently available in the UK to women between the ages of 13 and 49 years. In addition, a newer vaccine, Gardasil® 9 is now available, which protects against nine different strains of HPV that together account for 90% of cervical cancers worldwide.HPV vaccination is available at London Gynae Cancer Care, and can be given either as part of a Well woman check, or on request.
